For centuries religion was a main and central issue in lives of millions of people in the world. Whole nations and civilisations tried and searched for answers to their questions by addressing their gods or other supernatural beings.
People created monumental temples, beautiful sculptures and composed touching hymns and songs to salute their divine creators and protectors.
What is more hundreds of thousands of people died in the wars fought in name of religion and killed others to the major glory of gods. In other words, for centuries religion played the most important role in the lives of nations and civilisations.
Nowadays the world has changed. We live in a scientific society surrounded by information, high-tech and pop-culture and a decrease of the role of religion can be observed. Highly developed science helps us reveal and understand all aspects and secrets of our world.
Thanks to highly advanced research we are able to say precisely what the beginnings of our planet were and how our human race developed. These and many other questions answered before by religious beliefs today can be dealt with using modern technology and science.
The same is with wars. People fight continuously but conflicts on religious grounds are less common as they used to be.
But looking deeper it would be seen that despite the development of human knowledge, science and high-tech people continuously try and search for answers for some questions in religion. Despite being well educated and well prepared to live in contemporary world they are looking with hope for someone or Someone to lead them through numerous difficulties and obstacles of human life.
Therefore it could be said that although religion does not play such role as in the past it is still a very important factor in lives of millions of people.
